The Community Resource Center
Building a Stronger Community with Knowledge and Expertise

The Community Resource Center is a premiere technical assistance and reference materials clearinghouse for both the public and private sectors. The Community Resource Center strives to provide a supportive learning experience for attendees and presenters.

TYPES OF ASSISTANCE: Technical assistance services are delivered through:

·         Workshops (on ground and expanding to webinars)

·         Reference materials (current releases donated by industry experts)

WHAT IS UNIQUE: We offer interactive learning that goes beyond the standard lecture format. We bring awareness of national and local issues impacting Arizona’s nonprofits, provide local resources to help them navigate through the impact on their organizations, and perspective from the funding community.

HISTORY: The concept evolved as a result of a passion to serve the community and an identified need for state of the art knowledge and techniques in community focused organizations. In 2005, the need was confirmed through a state-wide survey that targeted community focused entities: social service organizations, government agencies, faith-based, and grassroots efforts.  In the same year, CGSI and Grand Canyon University collaborated to establish a physical location for the Community Resource Center at Grand Canyon University.

ABOUT ARIZONA’S COMMUNITY FOCUSED ORGANIZATIONS*:

·         Arizona nonprofits inject nearly $10 billion into the Arizona economy; their payroll alone is nearly $3 billion

·         Arizona nonprofits employ more people than the transportation, communications and utilities industries COMBINED

·         Combining staff and volunteer hours, the Arizona nonprofit workforce is larger than ALL GOVERNMENT COMBINED

ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS: Workshop instructors are recognized industry experts who have a minimum of ten years of experience each in his/her area of expertise. Whether you are a new organization or an established organization operating in the private or public sectors, the Community Resource Center provides valuable resources that you can use to successfully achieve your mission, goals, and objectives.
